Frequently asked questions

Hello, Today was the first time that I tried to use FSX Pilot. Each time I clicked on any button or dial anything ,the entire session went to Pause mode. After dialing the value or clicking on any button I had to "un pause" the simulation. Is that the way this module suppose to work? Is it not better to have the plane flying without any interruption while I make the selection on the EFIS ? Please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong? Sincerely ....
The simple solution is: There is an FSX option in the option panel: 'pause on application change', which is somewhere in the options menu. It is checked by default. Please uncheck this option, and FSX will continue when you change the application - browser, word, and - FSXP !
Kind regards and happy landings ....

FSX: I downloaded FSXPilot and successfully installed. However, when I switch to the AP panel or the EFIS, FSX will pause. You must 'unpause FSX on task switch'. Please go to 'Options->Setting->General' in the FSX menu options. Remove the 'check' mark next to 'Pause on task Switch', FSX will no longer pause when you view FSXPilot (or any other application).ΒΆ

I downloaded FSPilot and successfully installed and used the application to fly a plane that did not previously have an autopilot. However, most of the selections in the pulldown menu are shadowed out. Just open the Appanel and the EFIS. Then you will get the full selection.

FSX and FSXP: What are the shareware limitations of FSP and FSXP ?
After 30 sessions, EFIS (navigation, display of NAV targets) will work as before. Running flightplans will work. Basic autopilot function in plane and helicopter will work (IAS, ALT, VS, HDG).

However, there are some 'comfort' limitations:

Cam button will not work
Inverted flight button will not work
Helicopter takeoff button will not work
Helicopter autohover button will not work
Google earth interface deactivated
Mp3 player deactivated

Why does FSPilot not completely overfly waypoints when running a flightplan ?
This is due to the possibility of using time acceleration. FSPilot will wait until waypoint is 1 nm inbound (below FL100) or 5 nm inbound (above FL100) and then switch to the next waypoint.

What are the recommended realism settings for fixed wing aircraft and helos?
GENERALLY for helos: Please set the general realism slider (realism menu) to left position (easy) and AUTORUDDER OFF.
GENERALLY for fixed winged: Please set the general realism slider (realism menu) to left or middle position (easy) and AUTORUDDER ON. Exception: aerobatic flightplans, in which we recommend autorudder OFF.

What is a 'low ground profile' flight ?
FS(X)Pilot is able to do the following: You tell the program a target altitude, say 300 ft, over ground. FSPilot will, in a special mode, try to keep these to 300 ft independent of ground profile variations (hills, mountains etc.) The whole flight will be very 'bumpy', fighter style, but great fun. As we have no real forward ground radar available you must be cautious when choosing your target delta altitude. In mountains, we recommend 1500 - 2500 ft ...

Are there System limitations ?
Yes. FsPilot requires Windows XP and FS2004. FSXPilot needs Windows XP and FSX.

How can I stop a flightplan ?
If one of the FSPilot scenarios (FS launchpad) is started, the AC are usually in flightplan mode. If in FP mode, the indication 'FP' on the AP main panel (top, left) is lit red. In this mode, clicks to the AP panel are blocked for one exception: AP main button. Click this once to finish flightplan mode (FP indication will be off) and resume normal operation with a responsive AP panel. Or select Pause flightplan from the menu.

Do I need third party addons ?
Some of the supplied scenarios need third party addons (free): Christen Eagle II, and the Hawk Jet trainer are highly recommended.

The Google Earth functions, of course, need Google Earth (free version).

When I select one of the Google Earth function, my FS window is gone !
This is normal. FS main window gets minimized to enable to start Google Earth. You must maximize the window when you want to continue your flight. You can configure FS200x in a way that the plane / simulation will NOT hold during minimized state (or when you switch to a different application). It is recommended to enable the autopilot before using the Google Earth export function. This way, the plane will hold current altitude and speed and you have plenty of time to check the exported placemark(s).

How can I save the Google Earth placemarks ?
When you exit Google Earth, you are asked to save the imported placemark or the track.
Click Yes. You can modify the title of the placemark or track and enter your aircraft information later. If you use the Google Earth export function several times during one flight, the actual, temporary placemark gets overwritten. So please close Google Earth after each FSP export if you want to save the placemark.

Anything fails ?
Post in the forum or write an email. Please keep in mind that we support not only one or a few aircrafts, but nearly all of them. So autopilot tuning is a compromise, especially in the heavy jets.
