Quickstart lession FSXPilot

What to do to run FSXPilot in Flight Simulator X

(1) Install FSXPilot by running the installer. Choose a 'normal' installation directory like 'Programs' or 'Programme' - i.e. where your normal programs are on your root drive. Please don't use the FSX home directory.

(2) Copy the contents of 'Flight' directory (within the FSPXPilot home directory that is created after the installation) to the 'Flight Simulator X files' directory which is somewhere in your user profile directory. Do NOT copy the files to the FSX installation home directory.
This will add some demo flights to your FSX 'load flights' list.

(2) Find a new desktop icon 'FSXPilot'

(3) Double-click the icon. The AP panel and the EFIS open. There will be no new menus in FSX, but the APPanel will have all the menus instead. The EFIS is black.

(4) Start FSX. Select a situation or start free flight. There are two basic requirements:

Fisrt, you need to have FSX in "windowed" mode in order to see the windows from the FSXPilot Client. You can maximize the FSX window by clicking the middle button up in the right corner, but be sure the "Full Screen" option under the View menu is not checked. (click the Alt key if you don't see the menu bar in FSX).

Second, you must 'unpause FSX on task switch'. Please go to 'Options->Setting->General' in the FSX menu options. Remove the 'check' mark next to 'Pause on task Switch', FSX will no longer pause when you view FSXPilot (or any other application).

(5) Arrange the APPanel and the EFIS on screen. You can save the place of the panels by selecting 'Options' from the 'File' menu and select the 'save panel position option. Dual monitors with wide desktop is great for placing the panels on the non-FSX monitor. FSXP panels are always located topmost.

(5) As soon as a flight has loaded, the EFIS will become crowded with NAV targets.

(6) operate FSXPilot as described in the lessons.

(7) Unfortunately, the FSX sound will interrupt as soon as you click to one of the panels. Unless we find a solution for this (if you have one, mail us pls), this cannot really be changed.

(8) Exit FSXPilot (select exit from the FSP menu) and restart (double-click the FSXPilot Icon) as often as you wish during a FSX session. You don NOT have to close down FSX.
